Long hair do look good but they come with their own pros and cons. If you have straight hair, then you’re in luck. However, people with curly or wavy hair have a lot of problem when they try to keep them long. Not only is it hard to take care of them on a daily basis, brushing them becomes difficult as well. They get unhealthy and once you try to brush them, they get stuck and cause a lot of pain. Well, here are a few tips which will help you get rid of this problem once and for all.
How to Comb Your Hair
First things first, you need to bend forward so you can allow your hair to fall right in front of you. Some women tend to put them in front from one shoulder; others simply overturn their head upside down. Always begin brushing your hair right from the nape of the neck and keep brushing them till the end.
Once this is done, stand up and let your hair fall naturally. Smoothly brush them with your brush but do not touch the scalp yet. Brush those hair at the end and use your palm to smother off the static effect.
Increase the Number of Strokes
The aforementioned method is the traditional way of doing things. In order to keep your hair healthy, strong and smooth, you have to increase the amount of times you stroke your hair with a brush. Start off by five strokes in a single day at first. Then move to six in the next day and so on.
It is also advised that you let your hair become oily every now and then. Do not use too many strokes on oily hair as that will only end up in dandruff.
Moreover, remember that brushing wet hair is not a good idea. In fact, you should first dry them, then use a comb on them and then move to the brushing bit.
Treating Wet Hair with a Brush
Women often make this mistake that they start brushing their hair while they are wet. Even though the overall result is positive, what they don’t understand is the fact that it damages the roots. Wet hair allow your brush to have direct contact with the roots. This in return damages the hair a lot.
Wavy and Curly Hair
While women with straight hair should use a paddle brush with extremely soft protective bristles, women with curly and wavy hair should not use the same kind of brush.
Wavy bobs would need a round brush so that the kinks and curls can be fully set. As for curly hair, a thick loose-toothed brush or a big round ceramic brush is advised. They do not get stuck while you are brushing your hair to the end and they make your hair extremely smooth.
