The Monster Hunter universe is quite vast, constant hunting for monsters, watching the migration of various varieties of creatures and exploring ancient secrets makes players watch the world with some interest, but the game gives few clues about the origin and purpose of certain things, places or events. Many gamers, with the exception of old hardcore fans, became acquainted with this franchise only after the release of Monster Hunter World and they know little about the world to which they devoted dozens of hours of their lives. In honor of the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Rise, I’m going to be releasing a series of blogs about the lore and world of the Monster Hunter universe. I want to say right away that everything that has been said is not the truth, since Capcom is not very willing to talk about the canonicity of certain events. In order not to anger fans, all names of places and objects are presented in English, except in those cases when they are translated into Russian without loss of meaning and content. Sit back and get ready to embark on a journey through the world of Monster Hunter, stunning in its horror and beauty.
There was once a thriving civilization that mysteriously died out centuries ago. Although this civilization is long gone, numerous ruins located around the world serve as reminders of it, such as:
Tower (Tower) is an old crumbling structure, the top of which rises above the clouds, and, according to some, was built using the scales of the ancient dragon Kushala Daora (Kushala Daora), since during research its decomposing fragments were found.
Sky Corridor (Sky Corridor) – a huge building with many halls and doors leading to various places equipped with traps created by the Ancient Civilization to protect treasures and weapons.
Cloud Lookout Fortress (Cloud Viewing Fortress) which (you won’t guess) was intended for observing clouds.
What is known about ancient civilization
The ancient civilization was much more advanced than any existing today. People who are part of the Ancient civilization shared their habitat with many other races. All over these lands are ruins left by the Ancient Civilization, indicating that at the time of their heyday they were widespread in the lands of many regions such as the Ancestral Steppe (Ancestral Steppe), Jungle (Jungle), Flooded Forest (Flooded Forest) and Everwood (Everwood). These same ruins contain plans and documents detailing many modern weapons.
These plans contained the https://uptownacescasino.co.uk/bonus/ secrets needed to create certain weapons still in use today, such as the Dragonator (Dragonator), as well as some secrets about the Elder Dragons (Elder Dragon), allowing the Hunters’ Guild to resist and have a significant advantage over most of them. Some of these documents even contain diagrams and notes detailing unidentified monster species that have yet to be cataloged by the Guild. However, these documents are few, and most of them were destroyed during the collapse of the Ancient civilization. The goal of many scientists of this era is to discover the complete archive of knowledge of an ancient civilization, so that at least part of the prosperity it enjoyed in its time can be passed on to today’s generation.
Relationships with monsters
The ancient civilization was known for being able to use monsters for a variety of purposes, from defense to experimentation. Primarily for this purpose they used species such as Flying Wyverns (Flying Wyvern) and Elder dragons (Elder Dragon), using the bones and scales of these ancient titans to build their mighty structures. These "towers" were usually made from parts of certain monsters, such as Kushala Daora (KushalaDaora), although to achieve these goals it was necessary to kill them in large numbers.
The Ancient Civilization could also train certain monsters to act as protectors of the structures they built. It is believed that some of these monsters are still alive and continue to have a strong connection with the Ancient Civilization, which makes them stronger. According to reports from the Sky Corridor, some monsters are surrounded by an unusual, eerie aura that reflects their strong connection with the lost world. Scientists even found several unidentified monster bodies in some of the towers, suggesting that some unknown monsters may be hiding in its ruins. In confirmation of this, the guild from Meseporta (Mezeporta) reported sightings of a mysterious monster immediately attacking a group of hunters on some floors of the Sky Corridor. While most monsters were treated like slaves or guards, some were treated like themselves.
So far Nefu Garumudo (Nefu Garumudo) is the only known monster to be treated this way. Interestingly, some tools belonging to the Ancient Civilization can be found built into the body of the wandering Lao-Shan Lung (Lao-Shan Lung).
Prohibition Act
One of the dark components of the history of Ancient Civilization is the Forbidden Act they committed (The Forbidden Act), contrary to nature. Using technology and biology, this society could create its own life forms. However, this experiment was considered very evil for one reason: in order to create a new life form, another creature would have to lose its life.
The first new life form they created was Equal Dragon Weapon — it is an artificial monster created by Ancient Civilization and is the first of its kind. Created from the corpses of several Elder Dragons and held together by a steel shell, he served as a super-soldier until the disappearance of the Ancient Civilization, and his very creation triggered the first Great Dragon War. To do just one thing Equal Dragon Weapon, hundreds of dragons were needed. Since it was assembled from parts of different dragons, it could master all the elemental elements that the dragons at its base owned. Besides, the more blood this titan sheds, the longer he will live. Little more is known about this biological weapon, but the Hunter’s Guild has discovered one dead in a lost warehouse. They are currently studying this.
Great Dragon War
Due to the fact that the life forms created by the Ancient Civilization required the death of a huge number of dragons, this angered all the other dragons, which inevitably led to a terrible war. The dragons were tired of their kind being used as cattle by humanity, and were outraged by the fact that humans had forgotten the laws of nature. They decided to separate from people and destroy humanity itself. This began a long, brutal war between humanity and dragons that spread throughout the world, leaving behind massive destruction almost everywhere. It is unknown what exactly happened during the war, but it ended with the disappearance of most of the dragons and the destruction of the Ancient Civilization.
The Perfect Enemy of Humanity
During the Great Dragon War, in the ruins of the Kingdom of Shrade, the ideal enemy for humanity existed and presumably continues to live. The Elder Dragon known as the Evil Dragon (Evil Dragon), or better known as Fatalis (Fatalis).
Fatalis is said to have a strong hatred for humanity and even continues to remember the past of his brethren, including other Elder Dragons and even Flying Wyverns who were killed in large numbers by the Ancient Civilization. It was the ideal enemy of humanity due to its enormous strength. In a short period of time, without any warning, Fatalis could bring mass destruction to any civilization it wanted to destroy, such as the Shrade Kingdom. If this was not enough, Fatalis copied the inventions of the Ancient Civilization for his own needs, by analogy with humanity, using people instead of dragons. Fatalis melted the bodies of fallen humans and hunters onto his body so that he could carry them as they carried his brethren. Although Fatalis is known to no longer exist, the legend of the Black Dragon states:
After living for so long, it is rumored that the Fatalis who destroyed the Shrade Kingdom is now the White Fatalis.
Research on Ancient Civilization Today
Although this society has disappeared forever, the Guild continues to explore some of the ruins, documents and other materials left behind by the Ancient Civilization. By studying these ancient articles, scientists can gather more information about their capabilities. By exploring the remaining materials, the researchers put themselves at great risk, as many monsters now call the ruins their home, making them quite dangerous to enter without any protection. Additionally, the traps left by the Ancients still function to prevent thieves and treasure hunters from easily stealing their wealth. The Sky Corridor is the only known place where active traps are still found.
One of the newly discovered techniques of the Ancient Civilization was a special ability called the Transcendent State (Transcended State) (Japanese). (超越秘儀). Judging by the information discovered about such a phenomenon, the Ancient civilization used it to facilitate hunting. The transcendental state firmly connected people and nature, allowing their weapons to become stronger, both physically and elementally. If a monster has been hit enough times, in this state a strange elemental aura will appear around the monster, indicating to the hunter preparing to deal a crushing blow that its resistance has been reduced. This attack applied some effects that varied depending on the weapon in question. For example, if the weapon uses the element of ice, the monster will freeze and become vulnerable to a large number of attacks from the hunter. Transcendent State is now used by some Guild hunters in the Meseport area. In order for hunters to use this state themselves, they need to read books and perform rituals left by the ancient civilization in order to use the transcendental state, just like the ancients.
This was the first part of a series of blogs about the lore and the Monster Hunter universe and the continuation will not be long in coming.
